Origin: Argentina.

Scientific name: Melia azedarach.

Other Names: cinamomo, paraíso, santa-bárbara.

Foreign Names: china berry, Syringa berrytree.

Density: 0.70 g / cm ³, 14% of  humidity.

Color: Brown.

General Characteristics: Tree or shrub sheet and lapses of short duration, reaching 15 meters or more, with short trunk and canopy open and diffuse. Superficially fissured bark. Young branches covered by hair starred obsolete. Leaves up to 90 cm, alternate, bipinuladas, with numerous leaflets, each leaflet has so ovado-lanceolate, are sawn or lobados and somewhat glossy. Inflorescence large, pauciflora. Flowers fragrant, lilac, usually pentâmeras. Drupe fruit type, semi-rounded, about 15 mm in diameter, yellow, smooth, but becoming rugosos, slightly fleshy, usually present throughout the year. Blooms in spring during the months of September, October and November. Fruits mature in fall and winter when the trees are defoliated.

Drying: in greenhouses: Rapid (2 to 3 days).

Workability: Easy on machines with a softened ending and takes a good polish.

Main uses: boxes, floors, panels, frames and furniture.
